jaise dharati aur gagan ka
ye raakhi bandhan ...

m: aaj khushi ke din bhaai ke
bhar-bhar aaye naina
kadar bahan ki unase poochho
jinaki nahi hai bahana
mol nahi koi is bandhan ka
jaise badari aur pavan ka v jaise dharati aur gagan ka
ye raakhi bandhan hai aisa

50C - Bhaiyya mere, raakhi ke bandhan ko nibhana

Bhaiyya mere, raakhi ke bandhan ko nibhana

Baandh ke hamne resham dori, tum se vo ummeed hai jodi
naazuk hai jo kaanch ke jaisi, par jeevan bhar jaaye na todi
jaane ye sara zamana, zamana
bhaiyaa mere ...

Chanda re, mere bhaiyya se kehna

Chanda re, mere bhaiyya se kehna,
o mere bhaiyya se kehna, behna yaad kare) -2
o chanda re ...

Kya batalaau kaisa hai vo
bilkul tere jaisa hai vo
tu usko pehchaan hi lega
dekhega to jaan hi lega
tu saare sansaar mein chamke
har basti har gaanv mein damke
kehna ab ghar vaapas aa ja -2
tu hai ghar ka gehna
behna yaad kare

O chanda re...

Raakhi ke dhaage sab laaye
kehna ab na raah dikhaaye
maan ke naam ki kasmein dena
bhent meri ke rasamein dena
poochhana us roothe bhai se
bhool hui kya maan-jaai se
behan paraaya dhan hai kehna
usne sada nahi rehna
bahana yaad kare

O chanda re ...

The Almighty God to whom the thousand-headed Shesh Naag Ji, Ganesh Ji, Mahesh (Shiv) Ji, Surya Devta, King of the Heaven Indra, pray and sing praises of, all the time…..
The Supreme being who is described by the great Vedas as without a beginning or an end, who is pure and perfect, who does not discriminate on the basis of birth, social hierarchy, age, gender, religion, caste etc….
The omnipotent God whom the great gyani Narad Ji, very intelligent Sukdeo Ji and extremely talented Vedo Vyas ji, tried very hard to find the out the extent of his powers and abilities but could not find the answers……
The same kind and loving God, for a bowl of Maakhan, would dance in front of the cowgirls of Vrindaban. THAT is the power of Shraddha Bhakti and the extent to which God loves those who really believe in Him.

Gayatri Mantra
Mata Gayatri has five heads with the ten eyes. She is described in the Vedas as the combination of Mata Lakshami, Mata Sarawati & Mata Parvati.
The 5 heads represent the 5 senses and the 10 eyes represent the 10 directions. We pray to the Almighty God to enable us to pull our 5 chanchal Indriyas from all 10 directions (daso dishaaye) so we could concentrate on the prayers and meditate on God.
There is a misbelief that Gayatri Mantra is not for the ordinary person or that it should not be recited by women. The principles of Vedas & Puraans is equality and freedom for all human beings, therefore these misbeliefs are not supported by our respectable scriptures.
As can be seen from the translation that this Maha Mantra is for the enlightenment of all beings irrespective of race, religion, sex, caste etc.

सहज प्रकासरुप भगवाना। नहिं तहँ पुनि बिग्यान बिहाना।। (1/116)
Prabhu (Bhagwana) is the natural (sahaj) source of light (Prakash roop) in the entire universe, so there is no (nahi taha) scientific (vigyaan) tomorrow (bihaana) no night or day – just continuous light.

जगत प्रकास्य प्रकासक रामू। मायाधीस ग्यान गुन धामू।। (1/117)
Prabhu (Ram) is source of light (prakashak) for all the light (prakash) in the universe (jagat), King of Maya (Mayadhees) source (dhaam) of knowledge (gyaan) and art (gunn)

46 - Common Mantras - Part 2

There have been several requests for common mantras to be used before, during and after prayers. Every household, every mandir, every Ramayan Mandali chooses to use their own compilation. While I am no expert, here is the first instalment of some common mantras and attempted meanings. Hopefully some learned people will correct my inadvertent errors. We hope these will assist you in compiling your own version.

Many thanks to Avinesh Maharaj from Suva Fiji.....

Attempted Translation

My dear Akshar-Brahman, Guru Ji, Gyan Daata, please accept my humble respect and reverence. We worship you as an incarnation of God, and believe that God lives within you. Being close to you, my guru Ji, I feel I am getting closer to God.

Rittam Vadishyaami, Satyam Vadishyaami (The Preacher’s Vow)
The Prachaarak, Preacher, Teacher or Tutor of religion has a duty to teach. He vows to teach what is contained within the religious scriptures and associated books. “I shall teach truthfully and with integrity”. He vows not to teach false principles. To tell a lie is a sin, but to teach a lie is a grave sin.
The Prachaarak, Preacher, Teacher or Tutor should be aware of his responsibility to the disciple, mandali, mandir, and the greater society.

Tan maam awatu, Tad waktaaram awatu, Awatu Maam, Awatu WaktaaramThe Prachaarak, Preacher, Teacher or Tutor knows he must be honest and tolerant. He also knows that speaking the truth will cause discomfort and hostile reaction from some members of society.  For this reason he prays to God for protection from such elements. Awatu Maam – O Lord ! Save Me. Awatu Waktaaram – Please protect the orator or preacher. Please God !  grant understanding and tolerance to those who do not agree with my teachings.

Taittireeya Upanishad is contained within and is part of Yajur Ved. We are so fortunate that ancient educators, the Rishis and Gurus had collected and collated such vast amounts of experiences and knowledge for future generations.

OM Shanno Mitrah Sham Varunah Shanno bhawtwayarama
Shanna Indro Brahaspati Shanno Vishnu Rurukramah
At the beginning of a prayer the Guru or Prachaarak  prays for peace, happiness, Anand, Mangal, Kalyaan for the entire world. We request the Devtas Mitra, Varun, Yarmaa, Brahaspati, and lord Vishnu, to bestow eternal happiness and inner peace specifically to all present here today, and generally to everyone everywhere else. (The beauty of Indian Spirituality is the eradication of unhappiness in everyone’s life).

Namo BrahmaneUsing the word Brahmane the Guru or Prachaarak pays respect to two entities, Akshar-Brahman (the pamarath Gyani who has mastered the teachings of God, and from whom we have obtained knowledge)  and Par-Brahman (God Himself).

Twameo Pratyaksham Brahmaasi
