Gayatri Mantra
Mata Gayatri has five heads with the ten eyes. She is described in the Vedas as the combination of Mata Lakshami, Mata Sarawati & Mata Parvati.
The 5 heads represent the 5 senses and the 10 eyes represent the 10 directions. We pray to the Almighty God to enable us to pull our 5 chanchal Indriyas from all 10 directions (daso dishaaye) so we could concentrate on the prayers and meditate on God.
There is a misbelief that Gayatri Mantra is not for the ordinary person or that it should not be recited by women. The principles of Vedas & Puraans is equality and freedom for all human beings, therefore these misbeliefs are not supported by our respectable scriptures.
As can be seen from the translation that this Maha Mantra is for the enlightenment of all beings irrespective of race, religion, sex, caste etc.

सहज प्रकासरुप भगवाना। नहिं तहँ पुनि बिग्यान बिहाना।। (1/116)
Prabhu (Bhagwana) is the natural (sahaj) source of light (Prakash roop) in the entire universe, so there is no (nahi taha) scientific (vigyaan) tomorrow (bihaana) no night or day – just continuous light.
