61 - Deepavali and it’s Significance - Diwali Day

Ram Ram, Namaste, Hare Krishna, Namaskaaram, Sai Ram, Bula, Salaam, Sat Shri Akaal !

Guru Jan Ko Pranaam !!
DeepavaliAs the serene rays of daylight pierces through the darkness of night, a new day, a new year, a new beginning for each individual, presents itself. While the whole family has been praying together, each individual will have to decide on the path they wish to choose, and based on those choices will depend the consequences of your future.
काहु न कोउ सुख दुख कर दाता। निज कृत करम भोग सबु भ्राता।। (RCM 2/91/4)

The house has been cleaned, inside and out. The surroundings have been cleared of tall para grass, titaiya bowr and chakord plants – that had not been cleared for a long time. Everything looks beautiful and well decorated, the delightful aroma of the delicious dishes being cooked fills the house and it’s surrounds – except the poor “mun” (heart) is aching slightly that I have not been able to send well wishes and Diwali greetings to my dear bhai, my dear behna, my own pita ji or mata ji, my beloved saasu ji or sasoorji, my neighbours, or someone at work whose point of view did not match with my own.

This is early morning on the Diwali day. There is still the whole day left to make the effort to walk over, drive over, make a phone call, to your beloved someone and make your heart swell with cheer and sparkle as the diyas and candles light up in the evening. बाहर  का  उन्जाला  तो  कोई  भी  कर  सक्ता है, दिल  में  दीप  जलाने  के  लिए  मान, अभिमान का  त्याग  करना  पड़ता  है ! (Baahar ka unjaala to koi bhi kar sakta hay, dil mein deep jalaane ke liye maan, abhimaan ka tyaag karna padta hay !)
It is grossly unfair to have hosted or attended parties, cooked enjoyable dishes, not refrained from huge gatherings at Xmas, not mourned for our dearly departed throughout the year, and then decide that we will not have a Diwali celebration. This day is not about those who are no longer with us – of course we will miss them at special events in our lives – this day is about us enlightening our inner soul, create cheer, sparkle and happiness four ourselves and for the whole family and neighbourhood – a togetherness, a sense of belonging that (we pray) will last for a long time.
Happy Diwali To all of you and your beloved families. May the kiran from the deepak enters our heart as well.
Muskuraate Raho
