90 - Neelambuj Shyaamal Komal Aangam Sita Samaro Pita Vaam Bhaagam

Guru Jan Ko Pranaam !!

Shri Ram Stuti - Neelambuj Shyamal

नीलाम्बुजश्यामलकोमलाङ्गं सीतासमारोपितवामभागम्।
पाणौ महासायकचारुचापं नमामि रामं रघुवंशनाथम्।RCM 2/3।।

Neelambuj Shyaamal Komal Aangam Sita Samaro Pita Vaam Bhaagam
Paanow Mahasaayak Chaaru Chaapam Namami Ramam Raghuwansh Naatham

Neel (Dark blue, almost black), Ambuj (Kamal, lotus), Shyaam (Dark), Komal (Gentle, charming, pleasing), Aangam (Ang, body), Sita (Mata), Samaropit (Sushobhit, viraajmaan, present), Vaam Bhaagam (left hand side).
Paanow (dono haath – Paani means hand), Maha (Shresht, Amogh, Enormous), Saayak (Arrow, Baan), Chaaru (Sundar, Beautiful), Chaap (Dhanush, Bow), Namaami (Pranaam, Vandana, show respect), Ramam (Shri Ram), Raghuwansh Naatham ( The best King of the Raghu dynasty).

This is the 3rd Shlok from Ayodhya Kaand. Many people choose to recite this beautiful shlok before a Ramayan Prachaar. When you relate Shri Ram Katha or when you hear this Shlok being recited, hopefully it makes a little bit easier to understand.

Neel Kamal ke samaan shyaamal, sundar,  saanwale aur komal ang waale. Jin ke baai or Sita Mata viraajmaan ho kar ke is drishye ko aur bhi sushobhit karti hay.
Jin ke dono haatho mein amogh dhanush aur baan is priye chabi ko aur bhi nikhaarte hay. Un Raghu kul ke Shiromani ko hum namaskaar karte hay, pranaam karte hay.

At the beginning of a prayer we try and concentrate our senses - stop them from straying.
This Shlok builds  an extremely beautiful, royal picture of God in a human form. Tall dark and extremely handsome, tanned body, gentle and charming appearance. Equally beautiful Mata Sita adorns His left side. The presence of His bow & arrow in His hands are like the ornaments that further decorate this figure of unequalled beauty. We pray to Him to help us to control our senses (Indriya).

Any anomalies in these attempted translations are not meant to confuse you, but an indication of a lack of knowledge on my part.
